The World Team - This 120 x 140 cm oil on canvas is an inspiration from two different dance forms - Verdensholdet and Bharathnatyam. The painting is a representation of the mixture of Western and Eastern cultures.
The artist reviews the complexities involved in such a mixture of different cultures, which are symbolically represented through the opposite directions of the dance movements. One of the dancers' leg movements easily crosses over the head of the male dancer - in a way it points to a play into his mind - requiring him to align with the rest of the group. On the contrary - as the mind continues to play, the attention of the male dancer suggests this willingness to grow beyond the routine and embrace diversity. His female counterpart maintains a mixture of expressions "Hasya" which means laughing and "Shanta" which means calm - by being a little detached and at the same time being aware of the scene she is in.
