This oil on canvas 80 x 100 cm shows Sekhmet from Egyptian mythology and Narasimha avatar from Hindu mythology - who protects and heals the children on earth.
Sekhmet (meaning "the mighty one") She is the God of war and healing who fights off plague and heals diseases. "The book of the Dead" mentions Sekhmet as both a creative and destructive force. Creative because she protects Maat (balance or justice) and destructive because she abhors evil.
Lord Narasimha is an avatar who destroys evil and ends religious persecution and catastrophe on earth, thereby restoring 'Dharma' - the order that enables life and the universe.
This painting celebrates diversity by bringing these human-lion forms from two different cultures together and protecting / healing the children of the earth. The kids are happy to enjoy their company and feel safe in the lotus pond.
